Hello everyone, I'm a new member. My wife & I are looking at buying
our first Jag, we are looking at buying a 03-04 X-type. I'm looking on your forum to get some info on the X-type's.
Do they break down alot? what is too many miles? is 70k - 100k too many? what should we look for when buying a X-type?
thank you everyone

Welcome, Scott. How many days/weeks/months do you have before you are looking to purchase? You could probably spend a lot of that time just reviewing the X-Type section. Take some of what you read with a grain of salt. Most of us naturally post problems rather than accolades. Any 6 or 7 year old car is bound to be only as good as the previous owner(s) treated it. Most members will tell you the +04 MY is the way to go with X-types but the internals of the TC were better, in some opinions, in the '02 & '03 cars. Go for the most optioned car with the least miles and the most comprehensive documentation is always the best bet.

MY = model year
TC = transfer case
75K to 100K miles means you will need lots of service documentation before you jump on one. Remember, while there are quite a few X-Types out there, all Jags are still relatively low production number vehicles when you compare to Chevy or Toyota. That could mean few replacement parts were made too and prices are premium.
What kind of dollars are you looking to spend and how handy with a wrench are you?

welcome to the site Navy, good to have you here with us
Please check out the relevant section for your ride ( X type ) and wou will find good info there, especially in the FAQ quick link thread.
The off topic section can be fun and there's always the regional section so you can see who is around!
I've manually upgraded you to full forum access so you can better view all the sites features....
