Hello Everyone. After 4 years of owning my 2004XJ8 I decided that all the problems withstanding I will probably purchase another Jag in the near future. I bought my 04 Pearl grey/taupe with 48k miles. It was supposedly a select edition car. First big problem was the front shocks or compressor (dont know which ) that cost me 1500 bucks (65,000) miles.I thought it should have been covered under the warranty but the dealer said no. Then the passenger side head light assembly,(85,000) Dealer wanted some rediculous price. I bought the assemble on line from ebay (85 bucks) and figured out how to take off the bumper and replaced it myself. Saved over 1,000 bucks. At 101,000 he throttle body sensor went. I was amazed that you could not purchased a sensor. Its made onto the body which meant replacing the entire throttle body . Dealer job at around 1200. Is there anything you can get done at the dealer for less than a grand>
Luckily I found a great mechanic who does all my work. He is reasonable and does the same job as the dealer. Hopefully the 2011 wil not have the same issues I had. My baby now has 155,000 and going strong. Looking forward a 2011 select edition around early 2013
