Hello to everybody in this excellent forum. My name is Volker. I live in Germany near Frankfurt and own a Jaguar Mk2, a 2005 XK8 and a 2000 XJR. Living in a country where Mercedes E and S types are extremely popular because of the image of the brand created by an excellent marketing department which Jaguar doesn`t have I still prefer Jaguars for their superior style, elegance and performance. I even have converted the matt black parts of my XJR back to normal XJ8 because I think chrome matches the Jaguar`s style better than matt black.
I have had my Mk2 since 1974 when I bought the car after it had been stolen by some bank robbers who were caught by the German police (real Edgar Wallace / Francis Durbridge scenery in those days). I started rebuilding the car last year, and I am very worried about the safety situation. A frontal crash according to the present legislation would certainly be a fatal accident in a standard Mk2. I am working on some interesting ideas to solve this problem (not finished yet).
Using the forum for the past couple of days I have especially noted the kindness and helpfullness of the members. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community and hope that I can soon contribute some useful information in the future.
Best Regards, Volker

BriteREd01XKR, Cigar Guy, Norri and Gus, thanks a lot for the warm welcome. After having filled out the form with my car details I`ll disappear, no not into the distance, but for a 3 weeks holiday in the Swiss mountains with no mobile, no telephone, no TV and no newspaper or any other gimmicks - that is real and pure life !
