Greetings,
I am not only new to the group I am relatively new to the Ownership Jaguar Experience. I have wanted a Jaguar since I was old enough to know about cars.
My name is Joseph Arthur Giesler. My initials are even JAG. So it was inevitable. I work for an Offshore Oil Design Engineering firm.
I had set my heart on a newer XK and started watching EBay. I moved to Houston from New Orleans in 2003 and found a 2002 GMC Sierra Sport Side Pickup Truck om EBay. So I was familiar with serching cars out. I ran across my 1999 XK8 there and watched it go from $20,000 down to $16.900 in 6 months. I had spoken to the Dealer several times.
They emailed me last December 22, 2010 and said if I would punch the button they would sell it to me for $15,900. Bingo. Now this car had 28,232 miles on it. I got the CarFax and 12,000 of those miles had been put on in the last two years by the second owner. The majority of this cars life was spent in a garage in Michigan. The initial buyer (I am the third) had paid the big bucks and had only put 16,000 miles on this car over 10 years. That is like 134 miles a month.
I bought the car In December, did not take delivery until the second week in January because I had to travel to get it and am about to roll over 44,000 miles. I DRIVE THIS CAR.
Who could have a car like this and not want to drive it all the time. I just smile every time I walk out to it in the morning. I wake up thinking. I am about to go drive my Jaguar. The people that previously owned this car took exceptional care of it. It is Carnival Red but it is a Peach. The only thing that I have found wrong with it is that a seat belt cap is missing on the passenger rear swivel.
The tires were brand new Michelins, The dealer put in a brand new battery......oh wait, I did have to replace the wiper blades. The oil looked fresh but who knows how long it had been there so I put in some fresh Mobile One and also changed the Air Filter to a K&N. Other than that I have just been running a lot of gas through it...........with the top down :-)
Regards,
JAG
