Hello everyone I have owned my 2004/2005 facelift BRG STR colour tv/sat nav full voice and all the great toys for 4 years now, it has covered 75000 miles 26000 by myself.

I am located in Gloucester, England. I have been using the site for a while now via google and have finally joined. I have had the "pleasure" of experiencing most of the known electrical problems which I have found the site to be of a great help, as we all know we can get some pretty weird stuff happening with these cars, still the best car I have owned even with the few hic ups I have had, awesome engine!

The reson I have just joined is I have had a few water leaks recently, not too bad, heater control valve and a couple of hoses over a period of about a year. Then the dreaded happened, I thought/hoped it may have been one of the recently replaced hoses when I again I had the low coolant light come on but no, It proved to be the return hose under the S/C ouch!
ttwotees post on the subject is a brilliant post and between this and a local non-Jaguar garage the car is back running after a new water pump new throttle body and that dreaded hose between the V.

Not without a few problems though as it would only run in reduced power mode with the handbrake fail light DSC and other lights that have been mentioned on the forum. It had to go to the main dealer eventually to fault it on their specialist kit with all the latest software etc, it turned out to be a slightly damaged throttle body gasket (caused during fitting by the local garage I presume) it could have taken for ever to find this so worth the charge of a couple of hours of their time.

So thanks again to the forum for the help along the way and I am quite experienced with the problems such faults can cause although not hands on as such no room to work on cars and a little knowledge is a bit dangerous on cars like these.
PS just found Gonzo's site on the bonnet liners they look great, nothing that I can find so far like this in Engalnd may just have to pay the postage and import tax, very tempted!

thanks for the welcome chaps, you will be seeing me in the S section. Finally get the beast back tomorrow after a total of 9 weeks off the road (most of which was waiting for a new throttle body direct from Jag) I think they must have had to make one! Lets hope it goes as well as it used to!

Welcome kingseal,

Nine weeks for a TB - must have gone back to the bauxite mine for the aluminium.

Fingers crossed it's fixed.

Quick update, I have been away for a few days and covered about 1000 miles all seems to be great and running purrfect (touch wood).

Richard funny you should say that...NO is the answer I was lucky enough to be given a Nissan Micra hire car for the duration, the only good thing I can say is they must do about 100 MPG!!, the girls in the local petrol station must have thought I had died.

Quick update on the error codes from the main dealer, never know may be of some help to someone in the future:- P2118/P2119/P0174/P0171, throttle/motor performance and misfire on all 8 cylinders. All wiring checked and ok. Throttle body removed and found gasket fitted incorrectly. Gasket was fitted across butterfly restricting movement and producing air leak.
Who knows how the local garage managed that but as I said all ok now, happy days are back!
bye for now
