My name is Crystal I am a widow and mother of three boys, I live in Seminole, Florida and I own a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 V* 4.0 LTR with a full rebuild in December 2008. After getting frustrated with skilled techs that really didnt know how to work on a Jaguar I learned to fix it myself, I found along time ago even the most skilled person will never know your Jaguar like you, they are all different. I have owned 11 in my life time and for whatever reason this one is my passion. I had always felt the 98 one of the worst years to own with some of the worst changes made to the Jaguar however some of the new ones have far surpassed it LOL. I own the full service manual for my car to 2004 if you ever need it and my car can be seen on my website

I have had the usual tensioner, front end, limp home and tranny troubles but I managed. This new problem is really pushing me to the limit and I really need your help?
1998 XJ8 V8 4.0 had a drain caused by the telephone system stationed under the armrest, it drained the 2008 battery so low it wasnt coming back PS IN FLORIDA. I placed a NAPA OEM battery in three hours ago and car still said dead battery. All inside components work fine, all positive posts are getting current, alt getting current all fuses good except a 5 amp in the rear healboad from the telephone short other than that I am stumped I cannot even think of what this could be, please let me know if you have heard of this.

Hi Crystal, welcome to the site. That's an impressive website and personal history you've had with the cars.
Head over to the dedicated area for your era of XJ8 and ask there- I'm sure you'll get some expert advice

I welcome you also. I admire your spirit for tackling these issues yourself. I wish my wife could It is my personal opinion that NAPA batteries are suspect at best, although I trust them on everything else. I know it would be too simple a fix, but I have more trust in Interstate Batteries.
