Hello! As the new owner of a 1999 XJ8, I was thrilled to find this forum since I was experiencing problems with my XJ8. I quickly learned about ODB and purchased one this week, and have found 5 fault codes. I took autoshop back in high school (early '70's) so I have a basic understanding of cars but that was before the day of electronics.

Anxious to hear if anyone would recommend a mechanic out this way.

Enjoy reading the posts very much.

Welcome to the forum Alison,

Good to have you with us.
It seems as if you have found your way around the forum already, you may want to ask in your regional section Mid Atlantic - MD VA DC DE WV - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum as well as the tech section.
Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum Alison,

Bad news about the issues but good news you're getting to grips with OBDII. X308 section will advise on the possible causes and fixes.

Follow Norri's link to the Mid Atlantic Region section to ask about local mechanics.

Enjoy the XJ8 and the forum.

Graham

Sorry, Norri, I saw the name "Steve" listed by the reply. Is Norri a Finnish name, by chance?

Best Regards,
Alison

Welcome to Jaguar world. I'm on the other side of the Bridge(Eastern Shore) and just bought an 09' XKR. Visited Annapolis Jaguar when I was looking. Several friends that have Jag's or Rover's use them for service and have been happy. I don't know of indy garages for Jag's in the area, but if I hear of a good one i'll let you know. For the first time, maybe not a bad idea to check with the dealership and get a personal feel on them.
