Default New Member in Arizona - '02 Super V8

After lurking for a few weeks it's time to introduce my self and my new arrival.

Here are the basic details for people like me who have no patience:

2002 Super V8
90,000 mi
Slate Pearl Metallic/Ivory Interior
1 of 130 Super V8s brought to the US for '02 according to JCNA

Pics to come as I haven't posted enough yet and don't know how.

And the rest of the story for those who like novellas:

With 175k miles on it my Range Rover finally reached the point of dimishing returns so I started on the hunt for a new people hauler. I'm in real estate so occasionally I have to take people with me so the back seat size was a factor in my decision on what to get.

My wife was pushing for a Merecedes CLK convertible but it just wasn't for me - nice, but not "my car". I would have been left with driving her Lexus RX-330 on a daily basis and that never was and never will be "my car".

The XKR was my fantasy preference but at 6' 2" it just didn't seem to fit me well - another automotive dream shot down. Yes, I know, I said the back seat was important so why was I considering the XK8/R? Silly question is my answer - you can justify almost anything when it's a "want" not a need".

But in a sense practicallity won out in the end. When I found out the VDP was available with the supercharged engine I began the hunt and pretty quickly found almost the perfect car for me.

I bought it mostly sight unseen from the East Coast - all the pics were long shots. Thanks to Gus for offering to take a look at it for me but the snow storms were in full swing and I didn't want to put him thru that. I even waited a few days to get the transport truck there as the lot was snowed in. I won't go into the rest of the transport story except to say the truck broke down and they delivered four days late.

No real history other than carfax indicates it spent it's life in Virginia. No dealer service history other than a tranny code check after trade in at the Chantilly Jag dealer. Brakes are newish. Tracks straight. Slight squeak at start up but goes away after a few minutes - any ideas anyone? Overall I think it was a score at the price I paid for it and am fully prepared for another 100k miles of maintenance on it. I put about 25k miles on my daily drivers a year so we'll see how I feel down the road.

So here are the projects in the works:

Window tint - done last week as this is a must in AZ.
Wheels - see thread in wheel section.
Scratch removal - I've started on this but much more to do.
Seat rejuvenation - very dirty in front. Will document in interior thread.
Paintless dent removal for the almost dozen door dings.
Headliner - sagging in back. Will document this also.
Radio display - one bulb just went out. Another thread to document?

And much more along the way as this will be my daily driver for the next few years I hope.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the welcome Jim - it's a great site.

I look forward to extracting some useful knowledge from the other members and hopefully adding as much as I can. I'm loving the Super V8 so far - I've put over 1k miles on it it in not quite three weeks.

Hoping to take it to the track this Friday for some quarter mile runs. I'll post the results if I do.
