Hello Jaguar lovers. I am currently bringing back to life a 1962 mark 2 , originally a 3.4 litre but fitted with a mark9 3.8 litre many years ago. It had not been run for 12 years and I can find little history.
It was stored with many other Jags and Daimlers in a private collection.
So far I have cleaned and set up the carbs, replaced the petrol pump, brake wheel cylinders and pads, serviced master cylinder and booster unit, fixed wipers, horns, ignition, etc etc and got her running.
She drives beautifully, but overdrive does not work and handbrake is useless!
The heater, radio and windscreen washer units are all missing. Car has an alternator and no voltage control unit.
Engine is 3.8 litre but still has the original 3.4 head. Compressions are 175 psi. So it sounds to me like 9:1 now instead of the 8:1 stamped on the engine number.
Paint is an almost immaculate metallic British racing green and interior leather and wood is in great condition too.
There are other signs that someone had started to restore her years ago too.
I bought the car for my wife Diane, who has a Porsche Boxster and a 1931 Model A Ford, but has always yearned for a Mark 2 Jag.
endless to say, I am in her good books.
I hope that is enough about me. Many will say it is rather too much!
I look forward enormously to enjoying this forum.
PS. Off to UK to visit David Manners for a list of parts next week. We will see if the handbrake works better with new pads.

Thank you Graham, thank you ElinorB for a nice welcome.
I went to my signature and added some of my old cars.
Peet01, I too am excited to be here. "restore" is a bit too grand a word for my efforts. I am re-awakenig it from a long sleep, but someone else started restoration before me, but the project evidently stalled.
At some stage the car was repainted, it looks like new black leather was refitted throughout and a 1960 3.8 litre engine fitted, using the original 3.4 litre head.
I have now to find the missing bits. I would love to find a tool kit, but these seem rare and very expensive.
I will post some pictures and ask some questions as I get more done. Wiring is a mess and an alternator has been fitted, which only works sporadically.
Thanks again for the welcome
