Hi,
Just joined Jaguar Forums and thought I would give a quick introduction.
Been a Jaguar fan since I was a boy, as my Dad owned several MKII’s, a 420G and a 420.
When he passed I inherited the 420 (has been in the family for 50 years) with the intention to do a full restoration.
My current car is a 2009 X Type 2.2 Diesel, just got it back OTR but having some issues.
Hope to tap into the experience and knowledge of fellow members and help out where I can.

Thanks Graham!
Yes I have kept the 420, too much sentimental value to let it go. Needs a lot of bodywork but I have been picking up New Old Stock panels through the years.
Its a 1968 Metalic Green with cinnamon leather.
As you say it’s a rare car now.
I don’t understand why these cars are not more popular, it’s a beautiful car, and it pains me to see ones being sold just to be broken up for spares.
Best regards,
David

I owned one in the 70's when they were only fetching around £250. A wonderful car but rust was the killer and it wasn't worth doing much more than essentials to make it last a bit longer until the inevitable trip to the scrapyard.
For many years restoration was difficult because parts were scarce and costs (especially welding and paint) vastly exceeded the final value of the vehicle. Fortunately that has now changed but so few examples are available because many other owners did the same as me. I've considered a few over the years but never had the time or garage space necessary for a restoration. Good luck with the restoration. The sentimental value and provenance make it very worthwhile regardless of how long it takes you.
