Hello, I am new to you site and hope I am not committing sacrilege. I was given a 77 XJS from a wrecking yard, bad shape, but it is for a project build. I'm looking to make a similar car to group44 racing XJS except with ford explorer 4x4 axles, LS Chevy motor, Escalade 6 spd with AWD, and twin turbo. car has been sitting for years with windows open and family of raccoons living inside. has been moved around with fork lift, but most of damaged stuff was going to be removed anyway.

I hope you may be interested, hope not to offend!

Dan.

Hello, Dan,
The thing is about this place, it's YOUR car, and you have every right to do with it whatever YOU want.

By your description of the car it's far from pristine anyway (racoons and fork lifts would take good care of that under any circumstances) so you might as well have a ton of fun playing with it. Your racing project sounds Very interesting.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

sacrilege would be letting that car get crushed and sent to china. You are performing a noble deed sir! Not for the faint of heart but is that not the essence of jaguar appreciation?

Welcome! I look forward to following your journey. Saving a derelict cat gets you a lot of Brownie points. The car looks pretty good from the photo. I hope you properly relocated the raccoon family!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. they were removed at the yard, only their mess was left! body is pretty straight and most of what I need is there. floor pan and trunk is rotted but they will be reworked anyway. I can't believe how everything is bolted together with so many bolts and brackets, all fine thread. no wonder the car weighed so much. when everything worked it must have been nice. I will keep posting as project gets along. is there any market for drive train of this type, have posted locally but no takers, shame to hall to scrap yard.

I also have completed a prior project, a 1969 VW Beetle with Cadillac Northstar 4.6 V8, 4T80 trans, wide body. did all work myself in my garage over two years. turned out very drive able and performs great. hope the XJS comes out as well. I am learning as I go!!

Welcome.

That XJS looks like heaps of road goers down here.

Well done on the rescue.

The fun is about to begin, good luck.

Those wheels are SORT AFTER big time, so take care of them.
