Hi Guys
Thank you for such a good looking forums.
I have just purchased a 1997 X300 Sovereign. It was a real help being able to look through this forum for hints and tips before deciding.
I originally wanted an S-Type, then an XJ8 but decided on the X300 partly because the comments where that this was the best and safest choice of the three.
I originally had a 1976 XJS about 15 years ago that was a real money gobbler but I had got the bug. So, after 15 years, I am now back into it and the search was a lot of fun.
I haven't had this much fun hunting for a car since I was a teenager.

Apart from being the nicest I could find the car has the following specs

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I have to admit that after driving a Toyota diesel dor the last 7 years its like bing in paradise cruising down the road in the Sovereign
The badge on the grill is a Royal Automobile Club badge.
Not sure how old it is but its got a relief of King Edward VII who died in 1910.

Welcome
Hello there. Congrats on your recent (sweet) purchase. Lovely colour and it seems to be in great nick. I share a few coincidences with you in that I just very recently bought myself a 1997 jaguar x300 sovereign also. Mine had two owners from new and happily, everything, except the radio, works! I have always had a weakness for German cars (BMW) and my last one was a 1990 735, in the same colour as your Jag. I have just converted to Jag and hopefully it will be a smooth transition. And I am also at the ripe old age of 53!! Second childhood or mid life crisis? I dont know and I dont care, I'm too busy enjoying it! Enjoy your new car and many safe and trouble free miles to you!

Thanks Sogood.
I looked at getting a BMW but, at the end of the day, it was the classic lines of the Jaguar which won me over. BMW's are great cars but, for me, lack that extra dimension that makes the Jag a car in a league of its own.
My only concern is the reliability issue. I've had a Toyota diesel van for the past seven years and its been a superb runner with very few issues. However it totally lacks character which the Jaguar has ooddles of.
cheers
