Bonjour jaguar enthusiasts

i have just bravely /proudly salvaged a BRG 1996 xk8 in Uk from being dismantled and is now in dry south of France.
Rear wings are rusty below rear lights, gearbox shows dashbord fault message now and again and limp mode activates, headlining is missing, needs a paintjob and it smells a bit of fumes, probably rotten rear window joints etc.
I still think those vehicules should stay on the road. Those cars are beautiful, the v8 is fantastic, the driving experience is just wow.

Ive had the car 2 weeks and the forum has already been very helpfull.
Ive managed to enjoy the car as the limp mode doesnt always engage and the car pulls like a train. No worries fellow jaguar owners i'm now nursering it as the box might be dry or something broken in it.
the car was driven from Berkshire to Toulonwithout missing a beat.

So wish me luck and thank you already for everything i've learnt. I think you'll be hearing from me in the "please help me im losing my sanity" section )

Welcome to the forum pjj,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I'm impressed you made it to La Manche let alone Toulon in limp mode!

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

thank you very much for your welcome message Graham.
Apologies I thought i tagged my xk8s details, i ll have a further look.
Good lord no ! limp mode started 4 days ago )

european jaguar page...erm no ta
europeans well in france people are not car inclined at all... every1 drives a diesel here, when you tell s1 you changed an immerged full pump in a porsche boxster people look at you like you were mad, their first remark is Why ? cant you afford a mechanic?... i just like fixing her its part of the fun of not having a eurobox. ( ive owned a couple)... when i say i bought a british 4 liter v8 people start having fits... im paying petrol station man but that says it all about the approach to motorcars here. Oh and french forums ? full of teenagers pretending they rebuilt god knows what.. am i ranting now ))

so id rather chat exchange with my anglo saxons friends when it comes to cars
Uk and usa do have a car culture and chaps are really passionate about their drives.
voilŕ

i think i read most of all threads in the last 3 months got the xk8 2 week ago... spent 7hrs a days just going through the posts and threads, screenshots, downloads. Its a goldmine of precious precious info. We're spoiled.

oh and i havent even had a chance to go and check girls n cars section !!! outrageous of me ...
Good evening Graham
