Good day everyone, I hail from NW Pennsylvania. This week I’m considering pulling the trigger on an ‘05 XJR.
The only hang up I have is that the specific vehicle is out of state from me. I’ve never in my life purchased a vehicle sight unseen, so this is quite nerve racking. I’ve owned many “fun” vehicles in the past such as multiple 73 Mustangs, a 79 Monte Carlo, and a 98 Mustang Cobra. I’m a domestic guy at heart, so that’s why I’m interested in the Ford era Jags.
Anyone have any suggestions regarding buying a vehicle out of state and having it shipped?
Also, here is a video of a cold-start. I know it’s very brief, but is there anything concerning to note?
Good to have you with us.

My only concern would be how quickly the video moved away from the Instrument Pack after the engine is started. Do all the warning lamps go out?
Norri has already copied your question to X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. I’m not as familiar with these engines as other domestic cars, but should I be concerned as it sounds a little “clackey(?)” to my ears? Sounds like lifter tick but I know that’s obviously not it. Or is this just how these engines sound? Hoping it could just use a lube job. My daily driver (Tundra) sounds similar sometimes.
I had no problem getting my car shipped. BUT BEWARE: some pictures you may have on your car can be misleading. For example, my car was perfect, until it arrived and all the buttons were sticky and ugly and super cheap looking. I was FURIOUS. Fortunately there is Jaguar Forums. I found my answer after a quick “sticky buttons” search. (Neutropenia make-up wipes. It’s tedious, and be careful. If you rub too hard some of the icon on the button may rub off. You’ll have to wipe it over and over to soften up the sticky then remove it. Good luck!!
The Instrument Pack lights do all go out so he wasn't trying to cover anything up. Sepang split rim alloys are a beautiful wheel but expensive to refurbish. It looks like the stainless steel outer rings have been removed. A regular thing if they are damaged. Compare with the same wheel on my XK8.
Where he was rubbing the dirt should be bright stainless steel. These pieces are over 120 UKP each and the rim has to be dismantled to fit them.
