Default new member intro

Hello all! Quick post to introduce myself. My name is Jeff. I am a San Diego native. Buying my first Jag this weekend, a 1998 xk8. I have never worked on a Jag, but if anyone needs someone to hand them tools in the so-cal area, I am always wiling to help and learn. After two months of research on jaguars and reading everything google could shove at me....this is by far the best forum, and the only one I chose to join. I am looking forward to picking your brains!

In service,
Jeff in san diego noobie

Welcome to the forum Jeff,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

It sound like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Default hello again finally bought

After much research I decided against the 98 xk. Too worried about the tensioners issue etc. Saturday I bought a 2007 xkr convertible from Jaguar of San Diego. It has 35k miles on it I paid 26k, figuring it was worth with the low mileage. I did something I have never done before with a car tonight. I drove it to work knowing it was going to rain, wanting to see if the top had any leaks. Not a drop. I pulled into my garage and the car was of course covered with rain drops. I decided to give it a quick wipedown so it would not be spotted tomorrow. Ended up spend about 35 minutes (at 11 p.m.) wiping her down, wringing out the cloth then re-wipe etc. Even did the rims lol. It was actually fun. I got to know the car better....no big gaps in doors or trunk or hood etc. everything perfectly aligned and smooth. My bi-weekly detailer that does my car at work usually is gonna be bummed, because I really enjoyed doing this myself. There was a same year car up in los angeles for much less, but it had 80k miles and obvious wear. This car is exacly as new, and I am the second owner. It was sold at this dealership and the salesman still works there lol. I will try to figure out how to ad a pic
