Default New member intro!

Hi! My name is Hailey, I’m 26 and I just got my first Jaguar. It’s a 2003 XJ8. First foreign car I’ve owned. So far I love it. I have two sons, and I’m a Cajun from south Louisiana living in Oklahoma.

Welcome to the forums Hailey,

2003 was a model change year from the steel bodied 1997-2003 XJ8 (X308) to the aluminium bodied 2003-2009 XJ8 (X350). Jaguar love confusing model names!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum or this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum as appropriate for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

I’m not sure how to tell which 2003 name model it is. It doesn’t say. Only xj series. And the lookup with vin says xj8 but nothing else

Hailey,

Jaguar are terrible at names - four different models with XJ6 badge and three different models with XJ8 badge. This is why the factory, Jaguar Dealers and the forum use the factory codes to differentiate them.

This is the steel bodied XJ8 (factory code X308 - built between 1997 to 2003):

This is the aluminium bodied XJ8 (factory code X350 - built between 2003 to 2009):

They are easy to distinguish when seen together. The easiest way to tell them apart in photos is the door handles. The early X308 has recessed "lift up" handles but the later X350 has protruding "push button" handles.

Definitely have the steel body. Thanks for the information! I have a feeling I’ll find a lot of answers here.
I do have an issue with the front door locks. They don’t lock when I use the remote and the lock won’t allow me to turn counter clockwise to lock the car up.
