I have recently joined this forum after searching for a solution to a dead battery roblem and coming across it.
I live in the UK (Huddersfield, West Yorkshire) and I have a 2008 Jaguar XKR (4.2L supercharged 150 variant) that I have owned since April 2009. It was previously owned by Jaguar Cars in Coventry, and I was told it was used by a manger as part of their car scheme. It was my everyday car until 2018 when I decided to keep it for summer use only, preferably on dry days! I bought it with just over 9000 miles on the clock at 9 months old and as at November 2022 has 70,577 miles on it. It was serviced by Jaguar main dealers until around 2015 when I started using a local independent firm of Jaguar specialists. When not in use during the winter it's left in a garage on trickle charge and under a cloth cover.
It's never let me down until I recently came back from a 2-month trip overseas. It started first time and I took it to for it's MOT, which it passed, but the following day it wouldn't start, which was how I came across this forum. As it's the original battery I am guessing it might be time for a new one!
The car is in it's original condition apart from the wheels. The original Senta wheels all cracked at the rims at various times and after trying to get decent replacements I opted for some Bola wheels from Rimstyle that were the same sizes and offsets as the originals. Some might say its sacrilege, but I hope you like them!
I look forward to engaging discussions!
Mick

Welcome to the forums Mick,
Fourteen years on the original battery is exceptional although the OEM Varta brand are very good.

Hello, Mick,
Your Jaguar is just now well loosened up and broken in. That engine right now is in its Prime! Good job taking such good care of it.
I decided some time ago that the Xk8/XkR would be my Next Jaguar. I'm also given to understand that before 2010 is best for Any brand, as about that time they all went computer crazy.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
