New member intro.
My name is Gabriel, i'm from New Zealand and i'm also a new member to the Jag forum website.
I have a 2011 FX which i have had for a few years now. It is currently parked up and has been collecting dust due to couple of reasons, the first one being, the key needs to be re-calibrated (so i have been told) not sure what happend? but one day it just didn't want to respond when i tried to start the vehicle, so i ended up having to start it manually rather than by push button start, also it stopped me from being able to lock my doors so they are now forever open to whoever may want to enter the vehicle. Reason #2 is the battery kept going flat because of the touch screen no longer shuts down even when the vehicle is not in use, so i have to now diss-connect a terminal from the battery whenever i'm not using it, so that the battery doesn't go flat overnight and obviously re-connect it everytime i do want to use the vehicle which become to much of a hassle for me, hence why it's parked up.
Anyhow, before i take it to a specialist i was wonder if there's anyone out there who is familiar with what's happening to my vehicle and could possibly shed some light on the situation for me? Before i go to a specialist, only to get the wool pulled over me eyes and charged a leg & a arm.
For the record, my knowledge on everything mechanical and electrical in regaurds to vehicles is absolutely at bear minimum at best.

Welcome to the forums Gabriel,
Good to have you with us.
Modern Jaguars are EXTREMELY sensitive to vehicle battery condition and state of charge. Most of us who don't use them as a daily driver keep them on a battery tender when not in use. A failing smartkey battery will also require it to be "docked" to start the vehicle.
Presumably that's just a typo and it's an XF. If so, Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xf-xfr-x250-44/ to the X250 forum for help, advice and information. You can also use the New Zealand forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/new-zealand-97/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
