Default New Member Intro - From Melbourne Australia - XJS 6.0L Coupe

Greetings to all and looking forward to participating in this forum.
My name is Al and I live in Australia, in Melbourne, Victoria.

I recently acquired an Australian delivered, 2 previous owners, XJS Coupe in Sapphire Blue - 6.0 litre engine - 171,000 documented kms - built in August 1994 (Is that a MY 1994?) (not quite sure - Last part of Vin No is 196279)

I am looking forward to learning a lot more about this car and what to expect from it and enjoying some good company and conversation on the forum.

G'DAY from Melbourne Australia!

Hi Gippsland,

Howdy neighbour!! You are just "up the road".
I had a 1971 XJ6 back in 1975 (for about 18 months) and it cost me a fortune in never-ending repairs - overheating...engine re-build - you name it.... but for some reason, I have been bitten again by the Jaguar bug!!

Neil,

Just adding to my last message, I have a couple of other cars and my friend and mechanic is Dixon Matthews at Intermarque in Richmond (Dixon didd his apprenticeship on Jags and worked on them for many year)- and he has spent quite a bit of time with me going through the different XJS model variants and "what is what".

I did look at a "facelift" 1992 or 1993 convertible 4.0 litre but it seemed to lack the "kick" that I was hoping for...It's very early days and I am still very much still trying to "get the feel" of the car and get it sorted...

I don't know Dixon,Al. But sounds good to have a knowledgeable Jag man around,
Not sure how far out I am but believe that '94 was about the last year for XJS to be imported here.

Hard to compare a 4L to a 6L V12 so maybe get the feel for it on a dry road.(or not depending on your skill level)

As much as I liked them I skipped over the XJ6 as the 'problem child' mainly wiring issues where around quite early in the piece..

Look forward to further posts.
