Hello all,
After purchasing a Jag, lurking and finally joining this forum (not necessarily in that order), I figured it would be appropriate to offer a proper introduction.
I bought my 05 XJ8 long wheelbase in 2014 off an eBay auction. I bid low and figured for the price of a used Toyota Corolla 10 years older, why not!? I had researched the hell out of them and was very close to buying a previous generation XJR, but the good gas mileage, heated seats and steering wheel were quite convincing (Iowa priorities)
It has been one of my most reliable vehicles over the years
Yes I said it, haha...although a few things have me stumped:
Most asked question: "Nice car, what year is it?"
Followed &/or preceded by: "That's a pretty good looking car for these parts of the country."
TL;DR: I love my Jag, don't regret my blind-ish purchase from 10 hours away, love the gas mileage, don't like the cheap headliner and visor material. Gone are the days when audio upgrades were a simple venture with an aftermarket headunit - I actually wish my cat had a tape player so I could use a cassette adapter to play music from my phone.

- I always love the electronic park brake for surprising people at stoplight championships. At the back of my mind I know it is not a real emergency brake because of the vehicle speed lockout and I hope I never have to find out how well stomping on the foot brake will serve in a real emergency.
- This just happened tonight. The gas pump clicky didn't work as expected so I spilled a generous amount of 91 octane fuel. I was still trying to figure out why the high beams kept flickering yet the music kept playing when someone notified me of the spill. Not sure how they are related, and I would hate to replicate this in case the fuel was causing an electrical short, but that would be a pretty nifty way for the car to alarm me.
