As of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of an '06 XJR. Liquid Silver on charcoal with Bluetooth and rear DVD options. She went into service March 2007, so has only been on the road 4 1/2 years. 61,000 km. I've done the Germans ('01 Audi 2.7T / '06 BMW 525i / '08 M-B E300) and now it's time to go British. The XJR will be my 'daily' driver though I only put about 16 - 18,000 km on my daily per year. (My summer ride is an '02 M-B SL500 Silver Arrow that only gets to go out on sunny days.) I'm quite looking forward to driving this lovely vehicle and to 'meeting' all the other enthusiasts here. In honour of adopting the Jag, I'm leaving tomorrow evening for a 2 week tour of the UK (with a day in Normandy France), followed by a week in California on business, so will have to build some more anticipation before I get a chance to take a meaningful drive.

It looks like there are many other Canadians on here including many in the GTA (greater Toronto area) and I certainly look forward to conversing with all of you. My first question is where you would suggest looking to find winter wheels (and tires perhaps). I will be driving this car in the winter (can't miss hockey) and definitely need a winter set-up. Anyone have a winter set-up to fit the XJR they'd like to part with?

Thanks all.

Thanks for all the welcomes and for the upgrade - always like upgrades! I'm leaving in about 1/2 an hour to pick her up - looking very forward to it. So far the dealer experience has been very good as well which certainly helps.

(We're attending the Tattoo in Edinburgh - I think we get there next weekend sometime - the sched is so full I'm really along for the ride.)

I'll report back on the new ride when I hit home again - after the Labour Day weekend - yikes! Thanks again for the welcomes.

Welcome to the forum,

Hope the pick up went well.

I'm jealous of the Edinburgh visit, you'll love the Tatoo and Edinburgh during the festival is just fandabidozy.

Ahhhh...pickup went very well! I only put about 50 km on her taking my wife and son for a ride though as I had to pack for the trip. I must say I think this car could be dangerous. Without even really paying attn I was at 140 km (88 mph) in a hurry - I'd best learn to lighten my foot or it could be trouble. She's a beauty inside and out and now I can't wait to get back to learn all about her. I'm taking the manuals with me so I can read all about her and be at least somewhat familiar when I get back. I'll post some pix (after I learn how) and post a more thorough review when I get back. Cheers.

Burlington actually, but who's counting!

Grretings from sunny old England - that's probably all for now - more XJR reports after the trip.

Welcome to the forum. Loads to see and visit in Normandy apart from the historic Norman era, a visit to the cemeteries is a humbling experience.

And a hike to the top of Mont St Michel will leave you on your knees, although the view from the very top of the tower is well worth it.

Cool

Welcome. Even some of us Prairie folk know where Burlington is. I have family there. Sounds much better than anything to do with the GTA. No real offense intended to our GTA members. They already have the Leafs.
