I'm new to Jaguars, but not British cars. I've had a couple MGB's and a TR7. I'm a supplier to Moss Motors fro wind blockers to a handful of classic LBCs, and prepare hand-laid fiberglass body parts for the MGB as a hobby in my home workshop.

I'm eyeing up a 95 XJ6 owned by a widow from my church. She's had it in dry storage for 3 years, and asked if I was interested in it.

I came here to start my research. I hope from what I can gather here, I will make an informed decision, rather than just a lustful, knee-jerk reaction to an offer to buy a beautiful car.

Thanks for all the help, in advance, that I'm sure I'll get from these pages.

At the top of the "X300" section there's a buyers guide which will provide some basices...it's in one of the sticky threads.

One thing....Jags don't like dead storage any better than other British cars. :-)

Cheers

I'm looking forward to waking this one up. It's been a few years since I woke a car from storage, and that was a simple car, my TR7.

Thanks Norri. I use the same signature in a few other forums. No worries. I'm lazy, so I copy and pasted it.

Once I get it in the garage, I will.

Woo-Hoo. The widow called today, and it's mine whenever I want to come get it. I promised the wife I wouldn't touch the savings, so I need to wait on a vendor to pay me and churn out a few fiberglass orders to scrape up the cash.

It's a 1995 XJ6, green and tan. Needs an inboard headlamp lens, and the headliner needs replaced. It has 102k miles, and the body is beautiful. A couple small dents that a painless dent guy can sort out layer.

I'll replace the big hoses, flush the brake lines, and flush the coolant.

Does the forum recommend a reverse flush of the trans, or a normal "drop the pan and replace the filter" service?

Ask the more knowledgable guys in the relevant section as to the flush, although I believe not, but don't take that as read.

As for the headliner? Its been documented many times throughout the forum and there are some good tips....
