New member, Love our 1999 XK8 convertible
Hello to the group. I am in a little town of Ripon, in the Central Valley of California, USA. I was searching for a detail about my car and found this forum. GREAT information, and the tone is all helpful and friendly. Our XK8 is less used these days, but only because of a couple troublesome transmission and engine issues that I may ask about after the new year.
Two tidbits for the group:
First, we purchased the car in 2004 at the end of a 5-year lease. We JUST THIS YEAR replaced the battery, for the FIRST time. I went to turn in the battery and the guy was amazed it was a Jaguar Original battery that was 24 years old. I almost wish I had kept it. Yah Jaguar!
Second, my wife absolutely loves the aesthetic of the car. It is Platinum with Oatmeal interior and a black cloth top. We know it will become expensive to maintain in the future. Has anyone pursued electrification of the XK8?
I joined mostly to say how great the format of the forum and the information was. Great job!!
Glenn

Welcome to the forums Glenn and Donna,
Good to have you with us. You have become first in the unofficial "longest surviving battery" competition, easily surpassing the previous 15 years in an S-Type.
If you haven't already found the relevant model forum, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.
I know you've already read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started. We haven't previously had reports of anyone being asked to provide credit card details when registering so I've revised the guidance accordingly.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

welcome to the forum, as for electrification of the XK8, there is 1 forum member @rui who undertook this task and created a thread documenting his efforts but it hasn't been updated since 2020 (link below) - enjoy
