Howdy, I'm Peter from MA.
Found a 73 Series 1 in RI last spring. I wasn't looking for a Jag in particular. Owned and garaged for 30+ by an enthusiast, it came with little rust, a perished paint job (every panel a different blue) with some fair to poor repairs, dry but fair seats, a great dash and most everything working. He kept the mechanicals in fair dinkum order. Since then it's had some work on the body, mostly amateur (a first effort by me), a really excellent paint job (by a professional). It's a 10 from 15 feet and goes down about 1 every foot closer. The paint sparkles and the chrome gleams pretty well if your at the right distance.
I'm fairly handy, but have also found a great mechanic for the serious stuff in Rutland Ma who owns and knows his Jags. It also came with a great deal of extras from a stripped donor car. I just finished replacing the alternator and had one on hand. It's obvious, one needs to be handy to operate one of these fabulous but cranky gems.
So, I'm mostly a serial lurker, not very friendly, retired (with the help of the VA), fairly new happy Jag owner/fan. I'm willing to help out in return for the great info I've already gleaned from the site, as well as continue to learn about this remarkable car. I'll post a few pics when I remember how to thumbnail 'em.

Hello, Peter,
Congratulations on your "new" Jaguar! (Any ownership of less than a year is New)
I'm not surprised to read of a "little rust" seeing as the car is in Massachusetts, even though being garaged for 30 years.
Don't despair too much about your paint job, it could be a 50/50; looks not too bad at 50 yards at 50 mph.
Good Job finding a Real Jag mechanic too!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
