New member from McKinney TX Jaguar XJR
Hey everyone, my name is Steve and I'm joining the forum with my ten yr old son Presley, my wife and my 14 month old daughter. We recently purchased a 1989 Jaguar XJR that needs a lot of work. This is basically a dream car for me and my wife and son have fallen in love with it so needless to say we are all extremely excited about restoring it.
I have owned and restored many different kinds of cars but never a Jaguar (is it ok to call it a "Jag" yet?). With that said I will be looking to the individuals on this forum for help, advice and direction. This is a total family project but we will keep our posting to just myself and as brief as possible, we understand everyone's time is valuable. Unfortunately the previous owner did not take great care of this car but it's a good foundation to start with.
We plan to take this project slow and make sure we do it to the best of our ability (we are definitely on a budget).
I will wrap this up for now but I look forward to any help we can get, I already have a growing list of items that need repair and I really don't know exactly where to start.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Steve and Presley,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. You've come to the right place for all the info you need to keep the project costs down. With an early V8 be sure to check on the two main weak spots of tensioners and cooling issues.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x308-xj8-xjr-27/ to the X308 section for help, advice and information. You might like to start a new thread of your own there to document your project. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region section by following this link Southwest US - AZ TX NM OK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the project and the forum.
