Hello

I have been sent a PM from the Admin asking me to post in order to keep my account active I have been lurking here for some time.

Here's a pic of my first Jag, a 1995 X300 XJ6 3.2. Sapphire Blue with Oatmeal interior. I guess it's pretty basic in terms of spec compared to the high end models, but in hindsight, it's what I call the "more reliable" spec (hydraulic ZF gearbox, no sunroof, no driver's seat memory, manual steering wheel adjust).

I purchased it in 2001 from an authorised Jag dealer with Jag assured warranty. It had 42,000Km on the odo when I purchased it. My Jag dealer installed the 16x8 20 spoke alloys and new tyres on the car prior to sale. The odo has just ticked over to 122,000Km.

The car has never ever let me down, or been unreliable, but I have suffered what I call some typical X300 issues.
- High pressure power steering hose failed (I say "exploded" in a big way). Luckily, it happened in my driveway as I was reversing out of my garage - not fun steering a 5 metre long 1800Kg car without power steering. Replaced under warranty.
- Windscreen washer bottle leaking, replaced under warranty.
- Leaking transmission sump plug
- Weaping coolant cap
- Replaced fuel sendor unit
- Replaced coolant thermostat (twice)
- Replaced a/c drive belt
- Replaced leaking cam cover gaskets
- Repacked front bearings
- Replaced windscreen
- Replaced audio system with new Alpine head unit, amp & speakers (the OEM head unit amp failed)
- Replaced 2 leaking power steering hoses
- Repaired sagging headlining. Thankfully, it was only the cloth trim that needed re-gluing, the foam backing was still in place. It was all repaired inside the car without taking the entire backing out of the car
- The most bizzare problem I had was the windscreen wiper would turn itself on and remain on whenever the ignition was on. The fault was traced to a short in a wire behind the dashboard. The car spent 3 days in service while they traced the fault and removed the dash. Thankfully, the didn't charge me 3 days worth of labour....

That's all. As you can see, most of the above is mostly age - related general maintenance.

The car is religiously detailed, looks, smells and drives like new, and still gets admiring looks and stares.

Looking forward to sharing in this forum

Welcome to the forum Losiho,

Your X300 is beautifully detailed and a credit to your eleven years of ownership.

The repair and replacement list includes the typical items and a few more. That kind of information would make great posts to the X300 section - all adds to the knowledge base here.

Now you've made your first post, please keep adding to the X300 and possibly your regional sections.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
