New member, new owner of a 1998 XK8 convertible
Hi all! 
after sneaking around both the car and the forum for awhile, yesterday I purchased my first Jaguar, a 1998 XK8 convertible, 100k miles, british racing green and beige. A total beauty albeit somewhat of a project car...
Next Tuesday I'll have a mechanic go over it as it came as a blank slate (no papers other than title) so we'll have to see about timing chain, tensioners, water pump, oil filters,... I hope the list won't get too long! I got a good price and am looking forward to doing some of the work (especially interior) myself.
The interior is in a sad shape; worn seats with rips on the side, the interior mirror recall wasn't done so I'll have to have that one refabed, the passenger seat controls don't work (hopefully just wiring - the weekend will tell!!), the center armrest is a sad mess of torn leather and broken plastic... fun, fun, fun!
Looking forward to posting the progress and discussing the issues with everyone!
By the way I'm in Portland, Oregon and still looking for a Jaguar certified shop other than the big shop downtown that might have the electronic testers - any hints are appreciated!

It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
