Proud owner of 1999 XK8 in Meteorite Silver since Jan 2016. Procured via Craigslist with numerous "improvement opportunities".
Worked through and cleared - rear and inside light issues, ABS fail, Evap system leak, ac not cold, heater valve stuck, coolant low, washer bottle leak, automatic antenna, keyfob remote, new tires, radiator hoses, water pump, battery. Currently checking cam chain tensioners and oil leaks.
It hasn't been as bad as I thought, my memories of working on Triumphs and BL cars in late 70's/80's in Dumfriesshire hardened me I suppose.
My buddy refinished the wheels - all clearcoated and like new.

Hello, Ian, Pretty car!
That list of things it needed though, I can see how someone who wasn't handy could simply throw up their hands when the last one hit.
One at a time people will deal with faults, but eventually, the last straw falls on them, and rather than take the time to fix all that stuff that's stacked up, they sell the car. That's how I got mine.
Then after a little "Bonding," the car is all fine and it's a joy to drive again. Maybe it's a good thing there aren't more handy people owning Jaguars.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Ian,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link US Lower Atlantic - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
