Hi All,
Great info on the forum. I joined to learn about the 2010-2012 XK-R convertibles as I am planning on buying one in the next few months.
My wife drives our 2004 XJ-8 (great car!) and I had an XJ in the 90's. Our Jag specialty shop is a mile away.
I drive a BMW 330i convertible and a Jeep Cherokee generally used to transport my motorcycles to race tracks or for dirt biking.
I do MC trackdays about 15-20 times a year at Laguna Seca, Sonoma and T-Hill in NorCal and have also ridden at Miller, Barber and Phillip Island. The problem is my wife's car has more HP than mine! And I love V-8's with great torque and power. I have to have a convertible and need room to put my hockey gear in the trunk every week to avoid car shuffling.
I decided I really want a V-8 convertible with great aural music. Having owned a Ducati and now an Aprilia V-twin you realize that torque is king on mountain roads and the music from the engine is an important part of the experience.
I owned Mustang 5.0 convertibles in the 80's and 90's. The new ones are really nice but obviously a different class of car than a Jag - especially for a 50+ year old.
I live 1 mile from Hwy 9 an epic road in the Santa Cruz mountains and look forward to picking a nice XKR to enjoy.
I look forward to researching the options and differences in the different Model years for the XJ-R and to see how the new SUV goes. I sat in one at the car show and loved it.

Thanks for the welcomes!
I see a great representation from the UK and Australia. I lived in Banbury from 79-82 and said I someday I hope to own a Jag!
I found a RH drive MG Midget in London and put an E type fiberglass front end on it. It was nearly a one of kind. I painted it Italian racing red and drove it for three years through Europe before importing it to the US and driving it across the country to California.
And I've always loved Australia - I work for a company based in Melbourne and enjoy going back each year.
Cheers!

Good luck in the search for your Jaguar - just don't put a fibreglass front on it!
