New Member - Not Owner
Hi. I've had my eye on a 2000 xjr for a couple weeks, so I've been reading the forum to get an idea of what I'm getting into.
I had a chance to drive it this weekend. (had to drive 5 hrs to get to it). Wow, what an amazing and gorgeous car! I was in love. Problem is, there is a transmission issue. I was broken hearted.
It really irritated me as well. The sales guy knew I was driving that far, told me there were no issues. There's no way I was the first person to have that issue. He was willing to let me drive home 300 miles in a car that wouldn't stay in gear!
The price keeps coming down, so I may still end up getting it and trailering it home, and fixing the tranny.

Welcome to the forum baudrate,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the X308 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome. You're obviously a savvy buyer. I don't know how many times I've driven a long way to inspect a car only to be sadly disappointed so you're not alone. These cars aren't all that rare or even expensive, at least not yet, so now that you know you want one, a little patience and a much better one will come along.
