Hello. As my wife and I are about to become “empty nesters,” I decided that I needed a new hobby that would suck up all of my free time and disposable income. So I recently purchased a 1989 XJS V12 convertible.
I got a small taste of what’s to come when I leaned the hard way that the oil filter is tucked into a narrow recess between the sump and exhaust and is virtually inaccessible to most mortal filter wrenches. Also discovered there’s a leak in the fuel tank that’s causing gas to puddle under the car.
What the deuce have I gotten myself in to?!?
But damn that’s a good looking car!

Welcome to teh Forums.
MAAAAATE, what an awesome "empty nest" replacement, and from MY experience, CHEAPER than the "nesters".
Simple cars, really, oil filter :cuo wrench" is the best way.
MANY, fuel lines, and tank sender etc gaskets to eliminate before condemning that tank itself.
As Jim said, let the fun begin.
Good luck, see ya on the dark side, HA>

Welcome to the forums Hedman,
It is indeed a fine looking motor car. Your writing style suggests you originally hail from much further east than your present domicile ......?

Hello, Hdman,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar! And ya got a RED one! Bonus!
I don't have children but most of my friends either do or did, and from what I have observed, not only will your Jaguar cost you less than children as Grant mentions, but the car will have Specific things wrong that Can be dealt with by reason and logic, and the car won't rip your heart out of your chest, throw it on the ground and stomp on it at random times, totally unexpectedly and for no apparent reason. What you've got yourself into is a Whole Lot of Fun for as long as you want!
