A brief hello and introduction from a new member. Last spring I suddenly memorized the two old British DIY Minis from decades ago which I had as my first cars. Wanted to upgrade a bit and to get a car for summertime use and to work on. A couple of weeks later I had a one-way Ryanair ticket to Germany and to a shop which had imported used cars from California. I drove back home in a black 1999 XK8 Convertible with 67 000 miles on, in a great summer weather.

Last summer I drove it for 15 000 kilometers, including a trip to Nordkapp, the northermost point in Europe. By the way, speeding of 13 km/h on a Norwegian highway must be among the most expensive in the world, cost me over 300 Euros :-))

This forum has been most useful and interesting in finding information. The purge valve problem got solved easily, found solution for loose stabilizer bar bushings, for bluetooth set assembly etc. and a lot more to still discover. Also being able to get parts and service guides has been of great help and pleasure.

Thanks! Yes, will check the tensioners now. It's service season - snow and ice on the roads. But only something like a month and a half and the cruising season starts again!
