Default new member possible 2006 xr

Hello all, after lurking for severl months, I have sold my 1968 series
1 1/2 E-Type and think I have found my next car 2006 XKR. Copper Black
gray inteior 51000 miles.

It is at a Lexus dealer in Haverford PA. They are askng $26900.00 I did notice a faint atifreeze smell when I opened the hood.

It has spent it's entire life (so to speak) at mainline Jag, Rover dealer.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a pre sale inspection?

I have a local Mechanic that specializes in Jags although it is about an hour from the dealer. Has anyone used a jag dealer for an inspection?

As I indicated earlier, this dealer has serviced the car since new.The other opton I guess would be an inspection service.

Any sugestions for e would be greatly apprciated. Also any other suggestions or tip would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum steelman3,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

As the vehicle has spent its life with the Jaguar Dealer, service history, warranty and recall history should be complete and detailed. My 4.2-S has this same background and was fully documented by the Dealer.

Copper Black should be a Victory Edition as it was one of the four colours reserved for that series. If so, you are looking at the most desirable model as it came with all the options fitted.

Any hint of coolant leak need to be thoroughly investigated as overheating is a killer on these engines.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the US North East Region forum by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

I hope the inspection works out. Enjoy the forums.

Default more questions about possible 2006 XKR

Thank you for getting back. It sounds as if you did use the dealer for a pre inspection.
Any kind of dollar range I should expect to pay for the inspection?
I am going to call the Jag dealer tomorrow, depending on how helpful they are, I will call the dealer and go tomorrow evening for another visit.
Hopefully I will be able to make the deal and set up the Jag dealer pre inspection.

I can't help on what you would expect to pay for an inspection in the US as inspection costs and options on this side of the Atlantic could be very different. I usually buy one-owner used Jaguars from the main dealer and get their 30/60 Day warranty which gives ample time to find any faults.

In your position, I'd be tempted to get the local specialist you trust to travel the one hour to the dealer to inspect the vehicle for you. For example, a major powertrain issue down the line would exceed the cost of this check many times over.
