New Member replacing timing chains 1997 XK8
Just started the engine front end rebuild. Will replace everything that has to do with engine timing. The XK8 has 99,000 and it looks like all of the original parts are there, original tensioners and the chains are very loose.
Here's a few things I have learned so far;
I purchased four new German Iwis chains, three came from Parts Geek and the one they were out of came from Amazon. I never thought to check with Amazon but will in the future. They were cheaper and shipped free.
Most of the other parts came from Jaguar Columbia in South Carolina. If you let them know that you are a member of Jaguar Forums they will give you discount on parts ordered.
I have dealt with Clif and find him very knowledgeable on Jaguars. Most parts have been in stock and the few that haven't he normally can round up in a few days. His direct number is 800-948-2713 and let him know that Bob from Missouri referred him.
I will update with posts as the work progresses.

Welcome to the forum rpbrantley,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
When searching for parts in future, don't forget forum sponsor S N G Barratt.
