I'm a 73 year-old retired guy. I'm also a life-long Jaguar fan who had always dreamed of owning one someday, but thought that it would remain just that—a dream. When I retired in 2000, however, the S-Type had just reared its gorgeous head on the scene and I was totally smitten! I decided to invest some of my retirement funds in a low-mileage, certified pre-owned black-on-black 4.0 which I have loved and enjoyed for the past 16 years.
I had pretty much decided they were going to bury me in the S-Type—at 16 years old she still turned heads when I drove her down the street. However, browsing around on the internet, I recently came upon the 2007 XJR pictured in the attached photo, with only 66K miles on the odometer and looking as if she virtually just came off the showroom floor. One short test drive and I was smitten for a second time. I decided that fate had introduced me to the only vehicle on the planet that could share an equal place in my heart with my beloved S-Type, which now had over 90K miles on her and was beginning to show her age, mechanically.
I've owned the XJR for about a month now and am still trying to get to know her. (One of the hardest things to master is to make a smooth standing start without giving any unsuspecting passengers a severe case of whiplash! ) Today I was having a problem getting the contacts downloaded to her from my iPhone, so I googled it and came across this forum. And the rest, as they say, is history.
