Hello All!
I'm a new Jaguar owner currently living in San Jose, CA and working as a process engineer. I'm excited to be joining the ranks as I have always loved a number of Jaguars from the classics to the newer models. I'm a long time car guy and I try to do as much work on my own.
As a hobby, I've purchased vehicles and treated them as rolling restorations. I'm just finishing up my 2000 540i/A that was poorly treated but was a diamond in the rough and the M5 and my new to me Jag are next up. Humorously, both the M5 and the XJR were unplanned, impulse buys based on my love for the cars. I needed them like Dr. Dao needed to be "re-accommodated" but I think I'll be having more fun.![Icon Fryingpan](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_fryingpan.gif)
So my car is a 1999 XJR that I am taking under my wing to restore. It currently has a throttle body issue but I think it is something else since the throttle body has been replaced 3x in less than 24 months. His mechanic has given up but I think it's laziness and stupidity to keep pulling the codes and replacing the same part. From my 2 minute check, I think it is a bad connection with the TPS sensor. I have gotten some Deoxit to clean the contacts and I will be checking the pins to see if they are the updated ones.
What is the recommended Jaguar club for owners in the US? Many years ago, I attended an AutoX with the Jaguar club in New England. Great bunch and it was very fun!
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Nick,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Follow this link XJ XJ8 / XJR ( X308 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
I can see you've already found the US Western Region forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
