New member - XJ308 in Germany
dear forum
I have joined this forum in the vain hope that I can get some tips and help when working with my beloved XJ. Battling with Internet sides, this one included, wastes so much time. Here is an example.
ABS error .
I checked the sensors - no real help from anywhere in internet. One poor mechanic managed to sheer the bolt holding the sensor on, so his video clip was about tap and die … to remove the broken bolt and the drill bit on top. I eventually took all the wheels off one by one and measured the resistance of the coils inside the sensors. As they are all the same at 2R, I can expect them to be ok.
ABS pump fuse. Nowhere supplies a simple answer to my question. Which fuse? There are hundreds in the car but it must be in the collection of fuses near the ABS module itself.
ABS pump. Unplugged the pump and put 12v onto it. The pump whirs and hums so I assume it is ok.
So if anybody out there can help, it would be much appreciated, also if there is a link inside this forum. Yep, the search showed me nothing.
Thanks in advance

Checking the wiring from the module back to the wheels. What is the module pin layout? Again, no simple answers in internet.

Welcome to the forums Paul,
The fuses are listed in the Vehicle Care Handbook and the XJ Series Sedan 2001 Electrical Guide has all the schematics. Here is the relevant page from the Handbook. The Guide is too big to attach and, as a newbie, you cannot yet download files from the forum.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Europe Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Hello, Paul,
It's frustrating, isn't it, when a problem persists no matter what one does to try to resolve it.
Hopefully the fuse Graham directs you to will fix it once and for all, and you can get down to the business of DRIVING THE WHEEL OFF, and won't feel like stuffing a rag in the gas tank and lighting it off!

Good to hear it was a straightforward resolution.
Several members start a "My ...." thread in the relevant Model forum to track progress with their vehicle. You could do this with an opening post describing condition when purchased and work done since, things to be done etc.
