New member with an XJ6
Hi everyone, My name is Paul I am a new member that has just recently bought a 2012 XJ6 Portfolio 3ltr diesel. Previously I have owned two X types, both SE's, My 1st was a 2004 in silver, and the second was a 2008 in glacier blue. The 2008 was actually an SE plus because it had a few extra options on it, hence a very nice car, but I decided that the time had come to go crazy and treat myself to an XJ6.
I have waited a long time for this car, and so far ( apart from the strange low battery warnings which I am told are common on XJ's) I am impressed. Like all Jags, it is stunningly beautiful both on the inside and outside which does make you feel rather special when driving, not that I need this kind of validation from a car!
Funnily enough I had my heart set on buying the older version an X350/358 and had in fact test-driven a very nice 2008 Sovereign which only had 41k on the clock, but it was silver and although not a bad colour, I decided it wasn't for me. I had been looking for one in 'winter gold', and had missed out on a couple because I had been too slow getting in touch with the dealers.
If you want an X350/358 in black or silver, no problem, there are lots out there, but I didn't so it had become difficult, so I switched to the new version(X351), which to be honest didn't appeal to me at first. I thought it just looked similar to far too many other cars. The Jaguar classic lines had been lost in favour of the modern wind tunnel design to cut down on the drag factor!
Now after three days, it is starting to grow on me!
Of course, the colour is 'Cashmere Gold' an absolutely beautiful colour which contrasts very well with the ivory and pale grey leather interior.
I haven't really got to grips with all the features of the infotainment system yet, but fortunately, the basic stuff is very similar to the X type. I do like the split-screen facility, and I am sure my wife will enjoy watching tv whilst I do all the work!
The only thing that does disappoint me is the poor fitting of the boot trim, but I am guessing that most are probably better than mine. Before I bought it there was a problem with the power opening/closing that was investigated and fixed, but I guess they didn't refit the trim properly, maybe I will have a go!

If you had opened your original Intro thread ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...er-xj6-256833/ ) and posted it as 'reply', it would then have appeared as the next post in that thread. Posts arrange in date and time order.
