New member of the XJ8 family...
Hello,
Purchased my first Jaguar (1998 XJ8-L w/94K) 2 weeks ago as a vehicle for the wife and started reading here as it needed some work..
I'm starting out on an adventure as it needs both primary and secondary tensioners along with having a dropped valve seal and needing a new A-drum in the transmission..
The JTIS is my new favorite companion and has caused the need for three new black ink cartridges so far.
Unfortunately the car was purchased sight unseen after being described as "cosmetically pristine" but upon delivery it was not quite up to that standard (tears in leather, mis-matched wood trim, broken headlight, missing third brakelight in rear window, broken front bumper cover, etc).
So... once repaired to high standards it will be sold and I'd eventually like to find a nice X308 VDP for the wife and an XKR for myself.
I work on a ship and have random Internet access so please excuse any delays to PMs or emails.
Nice meeting everyone...

I'm at work so have to make it quick... A refueling vessel serving mostly the Tampa cruise ships and the cargo/container vessels in Tampa and Port Manatee. 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off gives me plenty of time to work on the Jag..
I see you are in Bradenton - my wife is the chef at a local Thai restaurant - send me an email and I'll buy you and a guest dinner just so I can see your XK Coupe <grin>. Either an XK8 Coupe or XKR Coupe will be my next vehicle.
My hotmail.com email address is the same as my username here..
Thanks,
Brent

Welcome to the forum Brent, why do I always live too far awayfrom dinner invites
Best of luck with those issues, head on over to the X308 section for some help.
Then again, turn left and sail on over here, my home port is packed at the moment I reckon some cheap US bunkering would go down well.

Hello Brent and welcome to jaguarforums.com.
If you haven’t already you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for. To do this go to, User CP, Edit Signature, Add Vehicle Details and such and Save Your Signature.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.

Finally back close to shore and have a cell signal once again - thanks all for the greetings...
JimC64: Your A6 caught my eye as I've only recently become an owner of British vehicles - the XJ8L and a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II (upgraded to 2003 4.6L/ZF-HP24 drivetrain). Before that for the previous 20 years have been almost entirely V.A.G. autos: Numerous 1986/1987 4000 (model 80 on your side of the pond) Quattros, a few model 90 Quattros, two V8 Quattros (early 90's vintage), VW Jetta (our lower spec version of a Bora) TDI wagon, a 2002 S4 Quattro and an '05 A8L Quattro. On another note regarding your signature: I am in Florida (temperature today 93F/34C) so if the chimney is smoking the house is on fire..
Richard: A free dinner is only a 747 flight away.. <grin>
Gus: Liked your website - very informative - which means I now have more reading to do. It will be a late night..

Have any photos of the '99 SC VDP that you could email me - especially the interior?
