Default New Member XKR 2003 Convertible

Hi All,
Have used the forum ‘in the background’ for a while and found it immeasurably helpful.
Realised that I’ve never posted as a new member(!) and that I now have a problem that I am unable to find a solution to ... so will post that separately after my intro!

Car has 68K on the clock and has had some work completed prior to my ownership;
  • Exhaust modification - sounds incredible!!
  • Engine tuned - cant recall the current BHP - but remember its pretty high!

Work completed so far; much of it with help from the forum;
  1. Road force wheel balancing - AMAZING difference!
  2. Lowered
  3. Headrest repair (cable)
  4. Rear sensors repaired - they still fail intermittently!
  5. Rear bumper mounting corroded - repaired
  6. Cup holder installed
  7. All ‘trolley dinks’ removed
  8. Orange reflectors changed for white & red
  9. Headlining cleaned - previous owner was a smoker
  10. Wheels refurbished
  11. Personalised plate - 1st car Ive ever had that I felt really deserved it!

Am currently experimenting with Bluetooth solutions (I’ve read loads on it and yet still I’m convinced I can find an alternative to the costly mod!)

Apologies for the delay in my ‘new member post’ ... I think the forum is amazing!!

chat soon

Alec

Welcome to the forums Alec,

Sunshine - that can't be a recent photo.

You have clearly already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

I've added vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to change these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Many thanks Graham ... yep; full disclosure - the photo was from early last year!!!
appreciate the signature details.

I’m tempted to post the pictures of some of the repairs that I did; should these be in ‘general’?

Alec,

Definitely in XK8/XKR forum as the repairs are model-specific. Two approaches:

1. add a post with photos in a relevant topic thread for each of the individual repairs
OR
2. start a "My XK8" thread where you can build up a history of all your repairs in the same location and add to it as you continue

Personal choice on photos. I never show my full registration number because of the risk of cloning. I received Penalty Notices from a North London Borough a few years ago. Fortunately the cloned registration was on a different model Jaguar or it could have been more difficult to get the fines cancelled.

I didn't want to influence your choice but that would also be my preference.

Hello, Alec,
I *Love* your car! In fact, I've decided That is my next Jaguar! Color, rag top, rims, the works.
My Jag is my first car I sprung for personalized plates. It just seemed to deserve them.
"Trolly dinks." I'll have to look that one up.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
