Default New from NJ

Hi all - getting in postition to get in position to purchase a Jag. My sons are getting older and I'm leaning towards returning to sedan ownership. And I refuse to drive a "sheep-mobile". My daily driver is a Mustang GT w/manual transmission - since I have an 8 mile drive to work, the car suites me fine. But as the boys get bigger, transporting them and their friends (and sports gear)is getting difficult in the 'stang. My wife has an SUV - so this is just for me to amuse myself but have a little more utility (but I won't drive an SUV every day). I also have a weekend convertible firebreather to blow off steam. Anywho - I'm leaning towards the XJ8Ls or the Vanden Plas with the LWB. It will be my daily driver (but probably do only about 6k miles per year). Would I be better off with the pre-04s due to the air bag suspension? I have a lift in my garage and I've built engines and do all my maintenance and repair myself (the only thing I don't do is body and paint) so I want to be able to work on the car myself. Money really isn't an issue but I don't like giving it away either. Was thinking something in the $30k range, but would pay less for an older generation if it meant a little extra reliabillity. I've also seen the CPO programs on the newer one offer warranty up to 10 yrs from in service or up to 100,000 miles. Would love the R, but willing to sacrifice performance for the extra legroom in the back. Thanks for the input - going of to read the whole forum now.
