Hello all!
Renewing activity here same time as restoring two XJ S3's:
- XJ12 1984 owned for 10 years. Antelope metallic. Has "facelift" front spoiler, suspension mods for autocross, two piece front rotors, 16" wheels.
- XJ6 1986 owned for 20 years. Jaguar racing green. Has: 3 sets of wheels: Kent, BBS style from XJS, Dayton wire wheels (dead)

There should probably be a thread for collecting the arguments for persuading one's wife that Jaguar restoration is not an option, it is a duty, and as such, means that less time will be spent with her.

Thanks to all old members whose info got me into this -- I read every post in this form years ago before purchasing the XJ6. Found that it was basically my old XKE '61 with a back seat. So yeah.
Advice: get the manuals, and get: Publication S 57, Revised 7/88, Jaguar, copyright Jaguar Cars Inc. (web "87-88 XJ6 Series III XJS Electrical.pdf", 11.32 mb, 164 pages.
This will help replace speculation and "I heard it somewhere that..." with facts.
You can even see that, for example, the cold start system is purely mechanical/electrical and not controlled by the ECU. Or that the red thingy next to the fuel pump relay and main relay is a diode pack, not a relay.
Reading is a wonderful thing. In some case can even lead to understanding.
Cheers.

DR

Hello,
You could tell your wife that while working on your Jaguar, she knows where you are and what you're doing every minute of the day or night. There will be no worrying if you're up to no good while "out with the guys."

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
