New Oldie
Might as well finally introduce myself…. I'm a long-time jag owner, going back to 1976 when I bought my first used '69 E-type ots (for $3000).
After a bad accident with it, I found a '66 ots with a blown engine... so I purchased that car for $1000 and had my '69 motor and seats put in, using the '66 triple carbs.
I eventually had to give up the sportscars because I became a full time musician and a Volvo Stationwagon became necessary. But I eventually got back into cars… first restoring a '69 Alfa Duetto that my old Jag mechanic had sitting around his shop, then moved onto a Mercedes 230SL.
But I always missed that Jag, so in 1993 I found the '64 e-type I currently have listed for sale in the Sunday NY Times. Jaguar of Great Neck, here on Long Island had it in a warehouse, and said it was previously owned by a friend of the dealership owner.
The car had been out of commission for a long time so I had to refurbish just about every system once I got the car on the road, but its been easy to work on and I've maintained it by myself, with the help of my parts supplier, John Farrell, for the past 20 years.
About 8 years a go I added the 1973 Mercedes to my garage for the sake of having a 4-door car. My daily driver has been a Ford Ranger, but that's about to change with the purchase of a 2009 XKR Portfolio from Texas, which I should be taking delivery of in 2 weeks or so.
Pretty excited about that! When I'm not tinkering with the cars, I'm usually getting dirty with my Moto-Cross bikes.
