Michael, welcome to the group. You will find lots of information here.

As for your headliner, to repair properly, it needs to be removed from the car. Unfortunately, to do that, it requires removing the front windshield. Not an expensive thing to do, but it can add a bit more to the price than what you are expecting.

As for a temporary fix, if the headliner is pulled away at an edge, you can use some 3M adhesive glue and spray it on the backing board and the headliner material. If you wait a minute or so and then you can press the material against the backing board. Then it is a matter of working the material so you don't get any wrinkles in the material.

Michael,

You may want to visit a custom interior shop. You might be surprised at how inexpensive, fast and professional they can be at the task.

Have done a couple (not Jags) the headliner fabric with foam and backing is available at a surprising number of conventional fabric stores. The last time I had all the stuff purchased and stopped in a custom shop. I am pretty sure I was out the door for about $125-$140 done fast and professionally. This did not involve removal of windshield which might be an issue if there is a stiff liner that can not be separated from the fabric/foam and backing. These guys basically masked off a drop cloth over interior, put on masks, pulled fabric down, scrubbed it off with wire brushes, cleaned surface, applied 3M adhesive to both surfaces, wet the surface the headliner again with the 3M spray adhesive and worked it out from center to edges.

I found a pretty complete warranty through Fidelity NOT fidelus that I think covers a great deal. I think you have to go with the Platinum Plus exclusionary coverage to really go after what you need to as difference on the return for what is covered is great. Caution, they call the shot on whehter to use used parts. I bought mine primarily because of a warning sign from transmission that could lead to heavy money. Usually I would self warranty but I compared cost of extending warranty or buying this warranty to what I had cleaned up at about 35,000 miles under the Jag warranty. Invoice for the clean up I had done would have cost about $1,000 more than it will cost me to cover the next 60,000 miles.

It ran about $3600 for 6 years/60k miles. Cost varies with mileage on vehicle now and ranges from 3 years on up. I would find out right away if you want as I think there is a major difference in price after either 70,000 or 75,000 miles as start mileage. Inspection fee of $200 and fresh oil change required. Dealer waived inspection fee as I had taken the car there for some warranty work on prior occasions.
