Default New owner from Sydney, Australia

Hi All

I have recently purchased a 1989 XJ6 XJ40 Sovereign that has done 300,000 km (bit high I know!) as a project car
Electronics are in fantastic condition, have had to replace the radiator, fan and it's mechanism but so far so good.

Am slowly restoring it, would welcome any suggestions on websites, mechanics, stores which I can go to to get parts locally.

At the moment am looking at restoring the interior, front two seats are very worn, wood panelling is chipped and sun bleached.

There is a dent on the side and also the front bumper seems to be loose.
But cosmetic fixes aside, it is in beautiful condition!

This is my first jag and I would welcome guidance on things I need to look out for while fixing it up.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!!

Have attached a pic as well

Welcome to our world.

300000km, is just run in down here. Worn out in the rest of the world, mostly.

I use JagDaim in Melb, and H&H prestige in Melb for parts (usual denial of affiliation of course), there is also a guy in Miranda (I THINK), and another in Wagga, but a scout of ?bay should find them quick enough, and I did notice the other week that H&H had some XJ40 seats that looked OK in the snaps????.

Post your questions in the XJ40 section, and remember to put as much detail as you can, so answers can flow, rather than more questions.

Welcome to the forum fryx,

XJ40 looks good. Grant is spot on about them in Australia versus Rest of the World.

The phrase "electronics are in fantastic condition" could come back to haunt you - Jaguars have a bit of a reputation in this respect!

Follow Norri's link to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Hey all!

Thank you for the warm welcome

Am having my first issue now, sourcing a water pump.

Will hop over to the recommended threads to see what I can do!

Cheers.
