New owner, taking a gamble~
Hi all..
I've been a fan of Jaguar cars for years, but my interest really peaked in 2011 when I got to drive the XKR-S coupes at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut at a vintage racing festival.
Besides the test drives, I also won some hot laps around the track in an XKR-S with Roberto Guerrero as my driver.. It was fantastic.
I've toyed with picking up a Jag as a second car for our family since then, but the right car and situation had not come up.
I was looking specifically at 95 - 97 XJS cars.. I like the styling, and the general reliability seemed a bit better than the 8 cylinders that followed.
Well today, an interesting opportunity fell in to my lap. A friend of mine knows I tinker with cars on the side as a hobby and he had just bought a group of 3 cars from a dealer that went out of business..
He only wanted one of them, but the deal was on all three. A Benz, a BMW and a Jag. They all had been sitting a couple years since the dealer went under and to settle everything the cars were sold off in groups.
I took the Jag off his hands and can't wait to dig in to it.. It's getting delivered tomorrow morning and I'll post pictures then.
I'm sure I'll have some diagnostic type forum searching to do and questions to ask as I bring it back up to good running condition.
The title I have is from Massachusetts in 2001 when it came up from GA. with 64,087 on it..
The odometer now reads 93,651.. so just under 30K in the last 13 years.
I put a jump on the battery and it cranks right over but isn't firing.. I'm going to flush the fuel system and change the filter as a starting point..
and go from there. It was supposedly a running driving car for sale at the dealership when they went under, and it just sat untouched for the last couple years.
The car will need a good detailing, but it's a 'clean' car with a really nice interior. Wheels are not awesome.. will decide what to do with them later.
Pretty excited to have this drop in my lap.. will be fun to bring it back to life~

Thanks.. Question on the appropriate forum to post in for my car though?
You linked to the X308/XJR 1997-2003, but wouldn't my particular car (1997 XJR with the inline 6) be
more aligned with the X300/XJR 1995-1997 forum? Or is there some change in 1997 that makes a difference?
I'm sure I'll be searching all over different forums as I go through this process, but
when I post about my car and engine I want to make sure the right group of people see it..
..counting the hours till it gets here
