Just got an '05 S-Type R this week. Its black and I love the comfort and power this car has. I'm a mustang guy and dont really have any knowledge on this car and I look forward to what I can learn from you guys.

Welcome aboard. You will find a wealth of information on your R and the '05+ seems to be the preferred MY. The car shares the same base platform as the Lincoln LS and the 4.2 is a well designed enduring engine that in general will give you little trouble. As with any car, there are issues that you may or may not have issues with, but my research says you will love it.
