Default New S type R owner

Just picked up a 2007 S type R. Great car. I also have an 2004 STI and I can not decide what car is faster. This Jag has a lot of power! To 30 I think the Jag will take the STI. To 60 the STI is faster, but the STI will top out around 130. The JAG has much more than 130 I have read...

Looking forward to learning about the car and I hope all here don't mind a question or two from a new guy.

When I picked up the car, it only had one Key. So I called the local Jaguar dealer and they want 600.00 for a second key. This is insane...

I found one on ebay and now I need to figure out how to program it. The car also did not have the manual so I don't have the key code.

Got electronic manuals from here...
http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...prod/index.jsp

I setup an account on TOPIx http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/i18n/index

but, I need to be certified to get the instructions on how to program the key.

I also do not have the Radio code. Anyone know where I can find that on the car incase I need to change the battery in the future?

Can anyone help?

Hi Rgun,

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will find lot's of good info.

I'm afraid you will need the dealer to program your key, probably abt $100, the dealer should give you the radio code, but I don't think that the NA cars need it.
Mine certainly didn't when I changed the battery.

Maybe I need to find a different dealer... he wants 600.00 for the key and programming.

Found this... can anyone confirm?

Things You'll Need: Nothing Step 1 To program a key fob insert the key and turn to position I. Step 2 Turn the key to position II and back to I (quickly repeat four times) and you will hear a chime if it was done correctly. Step 3 Turn the key all the way back and take it out. Step 4 Now press any button on the key fobs to be added and you will hear another chime. 5. If you have a set of keys for step (4) you have to press any button on two or more fobs at the same time so they both have the same code or else one will work and the others wont. P.S. Jaguar dealership were trying to charge $260 for a new Fob and + $160 to reprograme. Moral of this story research and you might save your money for better things. G
