Default new tech here

My name is Jim , I work for autoxpress.com .
I am new to forum and came here looking for an answer as many do. I have
degrees in electronics and mechanics, and automotive electrical problems are one of my things. I can fix a lot of jag parts from abs to clusters to climate controls
I can and will help with some general electrical problems and info.
if asked. I have access to some schematics for jags and will offer advice for weird electrical issues. Maybe I'll do a general write up on finding gremlins.
thanks Jim

drive it like you stole it !

Welcome Jim.

We can always use another tech, certainly one with your sort of expertise. What type of Jag do you drive and will you be hanging out on any particular forum?

Start making wiring harnesses for the vintage models.

seriously.

a new Zero O2/ updated clips and higher grade grounding wiring harness could really help some people out.

wiring is what scares most people away from ANY car project.

I always was interested in SOLID STATE POWER DISTRIBUTION (MOSFET) that would be a hot ticket over the standard fuse based power management.

welcome aboard autoxpresstech.....great to have you here with us on the forum
Sounds like you have a wealth of knowledge to share and there are plenty of us here in need of good sound advice. It'd be nice to think you could get sumthin out of the deal too at some point
I've manually upgraded you to Full Forum Access so you can better view the site and all its features.
Maybe after a short while and once you get some posts under your belt, maybe help sort a few issues here n there we could discuss offering you the tech certified badge, if you'd like that handle?

In the meantime, enjoy the site Jim

pace yourself autexpress, it's easy to get involved in many different issues and burn yourself out. Remember, sometimes the forum communication can only go so far. I've had to give up my 'assistance' at times after 'try this and try that' resulted in nada,...finally ended up giving up and recommending it be taken to someone more qualified and can put hands on it.

welcome and enjoy the forums...jags and electrical issues, especially the older models are classic. I can see how one can make a business just out of that alone!

A fresh wiring harness would be awesom on any vintage car.

I wasn't talkin a bout Solid state for the jaguars, just in general.

Making harnesses would be a nice side business in itself. Making one would be a project. But if you made one, you would have a pattern and parts list and any successive ones would be relatively easy. You could then, sell harnesses,or sell the parts list and the pattern. I know 90 era Mercedes harnesses also had major issues because of "green" (eco-friendly) insulation that fell apart. Is this the problem with the older jags or just the older cloth type insulation deteriorating?
