Default New top Jag, loving it

After eyeing them for the past year my wife and I just purchased a lunar grey 2008 xk convertible with 34K miles (just within factory warranty for age too!). Back in May we looked for a few XKs in the area and were able locate 2 within driving distance and actually got to test drive one. We really enjoyed it but the seller wouldn't negotiate one dime off the asking price and the car had a few scratches that needed repair. We ended up passing hoping for another great deal to come along. Fast forward to January and we are getting serious again. There are no XKs in the area that we can find so we decide to just randomly hit a few dealerships that i've seen some nice used cars listed. We noted a sharp red Porsche boxster and figured we'd take a look so we pull in, turn the corner and there is the exact lunar grey 2008 xk convertible that we wanted to buy in May. We asked the price and the dealership was asking $2000 less than the seller was willing to part with it for. I test drove it again and ended up taking it home for $4600 less than the seller wanted for it in May + the dealership was to make some minor repairs for paint scratches and lather damage. Its all completed and we are in love with it. I just can't stop looking at it. I love the sound. I love the looks I get driving around town. I love that my wife has had multiple people stop to tell her how nice her ride is.

welcome to the forum and nice ride!!!! As a fellow forum member said - this forum is the best tool in your toolbox - tons of great advice, how to videos, manuals, etc. An enthusiastic crowd willing to give time and support to help those in need. Look at the model sections for specifics on the XK as well as the southeast regional section. Enjoy the car and the forum

Welcome! Is that an XK or an XKR? I see the red calipers and silver side vent. Also you look a little too young to drive! Just kidding, cute kid! I love the two tone interior.

It is an XK. I've been wondering about the silver side vent, because I had only seen that on XKRs. I was wondering if they were an option or something. The red calipers have a little flaking so I was thinking about re-painting them. Do you think those things were not OEM?

thanks.

I think you can order them. a lot of people change them, paint them, etc. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...y-vents-49185/

I like the painted calipers, esp with those rims.

Welcome to the forum apost8n8,

Great colour combination and good to hear how the deal worked out.

Follow Norri's link to the XK/XKR tech section for help, advice and information.

Refinishing calipers isn't difficult. Aerosols of heat resistant paint are available specifically for this application.

Enjoy the XK and the forum.
